Joseph Heller’s novel Catch 22 captured the imagination of a generation which empathised with WWII soldiers trapped by illogical and contradictory bureaucratic rules. Sixty years on, Catch 22 has become a universal buzzword for ludicrously impossible situations in general, and the book which is regarded as a classic of twentieth century writing, still resonates with readers. In this session, both readers and writers share their thoughts on why Catch 22 still appeals to them – or perhaps, why it doesn’t!
